3. How much of a performance should a singer prepare without removing a refreshed energy from the performance?
4. What is the most effective way a singer can convey the lyrics of a song to their audience?
5. What is the most appropriate and effective way a performer can deal with negative comments and criticism?
6. How can a singer most effectively connect with their audience members?
7. How would a singer go about their performance when at different venues and or performing to different demographics?
8. What would you consider to be the most important factor in a performance?
9. How and what kind of routine can a singer practice in order to preserve their voice during a performance?
10. What are the most entertaining and effective ways a performer can enter and exit the stage?

Blog #6 Second Interview

My mentor is Miss. Lesa J. She is the CEO of a music promotional group called bricktoyaface. She was actually the person I did the first interview with.
I am going to be getting an additional mentor simply because Lesa would not be able to provide with all the hours I need.

5 Questions I can ask about her background:

  • What influenced/motivated you to start the bricktoyaface promotional group?
  • How long have you been in the industry?
  • What do you believe is one of the most important factors needed to survive in this industry?
  • Have you had any prior experience/ schooling?
  • What does being successful mean to you?
I'm going to be getting another mentor soon so these questions might change if I start working with him/her before this interview is due.

Blog #4: Interview Preperation

I'm going to be interviewing my current mentor, Lesa James, for my first interview. Lesa runs her own promotional group so she knows a lot about the business , and she just seems like a good base to start off with. Since Lesa J is the owner of the group she has connections with everyone from singers, performers, DJ's, producers, etc. so she can probably point me in the right direction for my next interview.

Additional questions that I will most likely add on to the five questions that are required:

  • What motivated you/influenced you to start the bricktoyaface promotional group?
  • What do you believe is one of the most important things needed to survive in this industry?
  • What does being successful mean to you?
  • You have seen many performers come and go. Is there a common factor between all those that succeed or all those who don't?
  •  If not, what are some things you have noticed first-hand of artists that have been successful?
